HUBS Winter Meeting 2017

The HUBS Winter Meeting 2014 was held on 12th November 2014 at Charles Darwin House, London. The theme was Higher Education 2015 and beyond: Funding, Opportunities & Challenges. Speakers discussed the future of Higher Education, the challenges that it faces going forward and the impact this may have on research and training.

The HUBS Spring Meeting 2014 was held on 8th-9th April at Chicheley Hall, Buckinghamshire. The theme of the meeting was Practical Work in the Biosciences for the 21st Century and included interactive sessions, speakers and posters. The 2014 HE Bioscience Teacher of the Year was also awarded at the event.

The HUBS Winter Meeting 2013 was held on 13th November at Charles Darwin House, London. This meeting covered the topic of Global Research Priorities from the perspectives of funders and industry as well as covering the topics of knowledge transfer and partnerships in the biosciences.

The HUBS Spring Meeting 2013 was held on 24th-25th April at Chicheley Hall, Buckinghamshire. The meeting featured sessions on the transition from A level to university, how learned societies can work with Higher Education, and the award of the 2013 HE Bioscience Teacher of the Year.

The HUBS Winter Meeting 2012 was held on 21st November at the Wellcome Collection Conference Centre. This meeting covered current topics in HE including the Research Excellence Framework, the Comprehensive Spending Review, and Open Access to publicly funded research.

HUBS Summer Reception 2012

Dr Julian Huppert MP, Mark Lancaster TD MP and Andrew Miller MP jointly co-hosted the first ever Summer Reception of the Heads of University Biosciences in the House of Commons, bringing together members of HUBS with Learned Societies and politicians.

HUBS and the Royal Society of Biology receive funding for project to promote Open Education Resources
1 June 2012
The Royal Society of Biology received funding from the Higher Education Academy and JISC to work with HUBS on a six month project to promote the use of Open Education Resources in biology teaching. The project will involve identifying existing Open Education Resources which support the teaching of practical biology and developing a new website to promote their use.
