This short course is intended to explore key presentation skills
What will the course cover?
We will explore what makes a good presentation and a good presenter and identify some key learning which will help the novice presenter build self-confidence in presenting and answering questions.
Now that so much has moved online, we will consider the key differences between face to face and online presentations and how we need to adapt our styles for different forms of delivery. This will be a highly interactive session, with lots of attendee participation and the opportunity for delegates to practise their skills in front of a friendly audience.
Whilst it is tempting to multi-task online, to get the most out of the course, you will need to be in a quiet, relaxed environment so you can participate fully and will need to attend for the whole session. Attendees are kindly asked to join the Zoom meeting at 13:50 and be ready to start at 14:00.
Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who has never presented before, or who has very limited experience of presentations and who wants some help in getting started or building on existing skills.
Course tutor
Professor Sue Smith is a professor of medical education and director of the Medical Education Research Unit at Imperial College London. She has a background in pharmacology and lung cell biology research, as well as in education and has considerable experience of teaching presentation skills to more junior colleagues and students at all levels of their educational journey.
Certification and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
A certificate of attendance will be provided after the event.We evaluate all of our training events, to make sure that we maintain a high quality of training.
This event has been approved by the Royal Society of Biology for purposes of CPD and can be counted as 9 CPD points.

Unfortunately, the Royal Society of Biology is unable to offer refunds on training courses that have been attended. We do, of course, welcome and encourage any feedback from a course and will continue to improve the service we offer.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation with over 10 working days' notice = 100% refund, less 25% admin feeCancellation with 5-10 working days' notice = 50% refund, less 25% admin fee
Cancellation with less than 5 working days' notice = 0% refund
The Royal Society of Biology reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a training event up to 10 working days before the event is due to take place. A full refund will be issued.
If the Royal Society of Biology is required to cancel or reschedule a training event with under 10 working days' notice due to unforeseen circumstances, a full refund will be issued and 50% of attendee prepaid travel will be compensated.
