Primer to the Immune Response

Tak W Mak, Mary E Saunders and Bradley D Jett

Elsevier

This immensely useful book will be of great value to students studying immunology modules within a wide range of undergraduate programmes, as well as those with a biological background who are keen to update themselves within this rapidly evolving field. It starts off by introducing the subject at a level most readers will already understand and then gradually delves deeper into the subject.

The illustrations are numerous, well captioned and academically effective. It is well designed as an excellent teaching resource that supports independent learning with 'focus on relevant research' boxes liberally distributed throughout. Each chapter ends with a 'take-home message', a 'self-test quiz', a 'can you extrapolate?' section, some conceptual questions and suggestions for further reading. There is a very full index and extensive glossary, which again adds to this book's value as a dip-into resource. It is an impressive example of effective modern textbook design.
